Oman records 636 new coronavirus cases, 2 deaths

MUSCAT — Oman on Thursday registered 636 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 9,009, the country’s Health Ministry said in a statement carried by Oman News Agency.

Of the newly detected cases, 345 are Omani nationals and 291 are expatriates, the ministry said.

The ministry also announced two deaths from coronavirus, raising the total number of fatalities in the Sultanate to 40.

The deceased were a 58-year-old expatriate and a 51-year-old Omani woman.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries in the country has reached 2,177, the ministry said.

Oman has this week eased some lockdown measures earlier imposed to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The ministry urged everyone to adhere to social distancing instructions issued by it and the supreme committee as well as to stay at home and do not go out unless necessary.
