Damamm airport all set for resumption of flights

King Fahd International Airport here is all set to gradually resume resumption of domestic flights, according to the precautionary measures set forth by the General Aviation for Civil Aviation (GACA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to combat novel coronavirus.

The applied procedures included using thermal cameras for checkup, installing over 100 equipment to sanitize escalators as well as corridors, with ultra-violet rays' techniques, in addition to stickers urging physical distancing, at the airport, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said.

Masks, gloves and other protective gears are among the precautions to be abide by, in addition to a regular cleaning of all utilities every three hours and sanitizing the airplanes after the end of a flight.

The schedule is set to guarantee an interval of at least three hours between two flights, whether departing or arriving.

In the first phase, ticketing offices at the airport will remain closed. Those escorting elderly passengers or those with special needs, will be allowed in two hours before the flight time, provided they put on masks and and their termperatures are checked at the gate.

Glass barriers are also set up to separate various airport service providers and the passengers, such as delivering boarding passes and luggage handling.

Efforts have been made to keep an empty chair between two seats meant for passengers or attendants to maintain social distancing.

Boarding bridges, buses shuttling passengers to and from tarmac and medical cranes will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized too.
