NEW YORK — The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi has affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's organizing, in partnership with the United Nations next Tuesday, the virtual Yemen High-Level Pledging Event 2020 embodies the Kingdom’s humanitarian role.

The hosting of this pledging event and its support for efforts and all necessary capabilities to achieve this event's success, affirms the Kingdom's high status as one of the world's largest donors and supporters of Yemen and its people during the past decades.

He said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the event aims to shed light on the humanitarian situation in Yemen in addition to seeking financial pledges from various countries of the world to help the United Nations to address humanitarian and health problems in Yemen.

He added these problems are exacerbated by Iranian-backed Houthi militias, who continuously violate truces, conventions, customs and international laws.

Ambassador Al-Mouallimi expressed his good wishes for the success of the event and hoped that it will achieve its desired goals in a way that would bring progress and prosperity to Yemen and its people. — SPA
