RIYADH — Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has focused on supporting the education sector through 15 projects worth over $105 million.

One of main projects that KSrelief implemented in Yemen, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), during the past five years is a project to assist the integration of returning refugee students from hosting communities to Lahij Governorate, which targeted 3,468 male and female students and teachers, and included the rehabilitation of four schools, in addition to training teachers on handling crisis and emergency situations. “My Education Campaign ” is one of the projects to support Yemeni Ministry of Education by providing 5,000 chairs, desks, and education supplies, benefitting 5,000 students in Marib Governorate.

In line with community support projects in Yemen, KSrelief has implemented a school bags and supplies project in four governorates in Yemen, benefiting 20,000 students. This project aimed at contributing to motivating male and female students to continue their education and reduce the reasons leading to school drop-outs.

KSrelief in cooperation with UNESCO has also implemented “My Right to Learn” project which targeted 25,000 students in Yemeni Governorates.

“I Have the Right to Develop” is another project that aims to strengthen Yemen’s national education capacities in order to reach out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out. The project included 100,000 teachers and principals.

Another project is “Together for Education in Yemen” which includes the provision of more than 50,000 desks and chairs that will serve students in different Yemeni governorates.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia has provided financial incentives for teachers and cadres in the education sector.
