JEDDAH — Qatar recorded 1,721 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, raising the total number of the confirmed COVID-19 cases to 71,879, according to the country’s Ministry of Public Health.
The ministry also said that five more people had died of coronavirus, bringing the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 62. All the deceased were in the age group of 50 to 80 with the youngest being 53 years old and all were receiving medical care in intensive care units.
The ministry offered “sincere condolences and profound sympathy to the families of the deceased”.
It added that a total of 1,634 had recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 47,569.
The ministry also said that it had conducted 5,389 additional coronavirus tests in the past 24 hours, taking the total tests done so far in the country to 265,035 tests.
