Security forces to intensify inspections to catch violators of corona protocols

RIYADH —
The Public Security Directorate reiterated its determination to enforce precautionary measures and preventive protocols to ensure safety of the public with the gradual relaxation of lockdown over the coming period.

The Public Security will strictly implement punitive measures against violators of these measures, including wearing of mask, physical and social distancing, and gathering of people.

Directors of police from various regions of the Kingdom attended a virtual session, chaired by Lt. Gen. Khaled Al-Harbi, director general of Public Security, at the Public Security headquarters in Al-Nasiriyah on Wednesday.

They reviewed the directives of Minister of Interior Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Bin Naif with regard to the field and administrative measures carried out by the Public Security to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The meeting decided to intensify field inspections on foot and in vehicles and beef up security and traffic campaign to catch violations of some motorists, including hiding number plates and windscreen sunshades not to detect violations.

A number of important recommendations came up for discussions during the meeting and it was decided to approve them as part of ensuring security and safety of the public.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Gen. Al-Harbi affirmed that the wise leadership in the Kingdom has made human safety its utmost concern and focus of attention and care, as was demonstrated in the Kingdom’s highest levels of preventive and precautionary measures to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior renewed its advisory with regard to enforcing punitive measures against violators of precautionary measures and preventive protocols.

These include not wearing medical or clothe masks or covering the nose and mouth; not committing to physical distance; refusing to measure the temperature when entering the public or private sector establishments, and failure to adhere to the procedures adopted when the temperature rises above 38 degrees Celsius. The penalty will be doubled in case of repetition of the violation.

The ministry also stated that there is an amendment in the number of maximum people allowed in family and non-family gatherings inside homes, rest houses, farms, or in social events to offer condolence and parties and so on, making it a maximum of 50 people.
