KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Monday confirmed 582 new coronavirus infections and two more deaths, raising the count of cases to 45,524 and the fatalities to 350, the health ministry said in a report.

The new infections involved 319 Kuwaiti nationals, and 263 cases were found in foreigners.

Currently, 8,861 patients are getting treatment, including 145 in ICU, according to the report.

The ministry also declared the recovery of 819 more patients, augmenting the total recoveries in the country to 36,313.

On June 25, Kuwait decided to begin the second phase of returning to normal life. The second phase will start Tuesday and will last for three weeks.

In the second phase, public and private sectors will restart work with less than 30 percent capability, in addition to the continuation of operation in shopping malls, financial sector, construction sector, retail shops, parks, and pick-ups from restaurants and cafes.

Kuwait also began reducing its nationwide curfew hours, and the lockdown will now be in place from 7 p.m. local time and last until 5 a.m. each day. — Agencies
