Saudi Arabia attends European Spectrum Management Conference as special invitee

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia represented by the Communications and Information Technology Commission participated in the 15th European Spectrum Management Conference.

The annual conference, which concluded on Monday, deals with the most important developments and challenges in managing spectrum globally and seeks to promote regional and international compatibility in the uses of the spectrum.

During the weeklong conference, the General Director of the Spectrum Monitoring Authority, Engineer Mohamed Al-Abdul Qadir, highlighted the Kingdom's pioneering experience in the redistribution of the specific bands for mobile services.

He presented a working paper discussing the bandwidth usage in the Kingdom and the future scenario in the Arab region with regard to fifth-generation technologies and broadcasting services.

Al-Abdulqadir also reviewed the Kingdom's leadership in providing the spectrum for mobile communications systems, which contributed to the improvement of Internet speed by more than 6 times and pushed Saudi Arabia to the tenth position globally.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom received a special invitation to participate in the conference its pioneering experience in the redistribution of frequency bands, and its efforts in promoting regional and international compatibility at various levels.
