ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday confirmed 402 new coronavirus cases and one death over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention.
The Ministry also announced that a total of 594 more patients have completely recovered after receiving necessary medical care.
This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, recoveries and virus-related deaths so far in the country to 49,069, 38,260 and 316 respectively.
Addressing a press briefing, Dr. Amna Al Dahhak Al Shamsi, official spokesperson of the UAE government, said the average daily infections in the county have come down from 712 cases in May to 470 cases in June. While the average daily recovery cases increased from 500 cases in May to 654 cases in June.
The spokesperson added that the new cases were detected following 62,028 tests conducted over the past few days, while the total number of coronavirus tests done so far since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country has reached three million.
The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all patients.
It urged the public to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing protocols, to ensure the safety and protection of all.
