2,199 ICU beds added in Saudi hospitals in 90 days

A total of extra 2,199 beds have been provided for intensive care units (ICUs) within three months, a statement from Saudi Ministry of Health has said.

It said the additional beds have been added in various hospitals in all regions of the Kingdom as an extension of current continuous efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.

“The Ministry of Health announced that it added extra 2,199 beds for intensive care units (ICUs), within 90 days, in various hospitals, in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as an extension of its continuous efforts to provide maximum protection for the safety of citizens and residents, and in continuation of the application of the highest precautionary standards, amid proactively preventive measures to address the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,” the Ministry of Health said.

The ministry's announcement comes as Saudi corona cases continue to be over 4,000 for the last couple of days after going down to about 3,200 last week.
