KUWAIT/BERLIN — The United States has set a new single day record in new coronavirus cases after recording over 60,000 new cases whereas Brazil registered almost 43,000 new cases.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the US recorded 60,646 new coronavirus cases and at least 895 deaths in the past 24 hours. The nation’s total coronavirus cases reached 3,115,345 and over 133,000 deaths, the tally showed.
Meanwhile, the Brazil’s Health Ministry said that at least 42,619 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the past 24 hours as the country’s total cases reached 1,755,779. At least 1,220 new deaths were recorded bringing the country’s total deaths to 69.184.
Also, Bolivian interim President Jeanine Anez became the third Latin American Head of State to test positive for the virus after Brazil’s and Honduran presidents.
In Berlin, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 395 to 198,178, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Friday. The reported death toll rose by six to 9,054, the tally showed.
In Moscow, Russia on Thursday reported 6,509 new cases of the novel coronavirus, pushing its official nationwide tally to 707,301, the fourth largest caseload in the world, Reuters reported.
The national coronavirus taskforce said 176 people had died in the last 24 hours, bringing the official virus death toll to 10,843. —KUNA/SPA
