Corona cases down in Kuwait, recoveries up

KUWAIT CITY — The Ministry of Health said Monday 746 people have recovered from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 45,356.

The ministry said medical teams confirmed recoveries of the new cases following tests in line with the COVID-19 protocol.

There country also recorded a drop of 614 new cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 55,508, the ministry said.

A total of 378 Kuwaiti citizens and 236 non-Kuwaiti expatriates tested positive for the virus, the ministry said.

There are 9,759 active cases in the country, and 148 of them are serious, the ministry said.

Three people died due to COVID-19, the ministry added. The virus-related death toll in Kuwait is now 393.

Commercial activities were part of the country’s second phase of reopening.

International flights to and from Kuwait will resume on Aug. 1, the country announced last week. — Agencies
