JEDDAH — A number of ships are on fire in the Iranian port city of Bushehr, Iranian news agencies reported on Wednesday.

According to the Tasnim news agency, seven ships have caught fire and there are no causalities so far.

Earlier, the semi-official IRNA news agency reported that the fire has engulfed three ships without giving any reason for the incident.

"Firefighting operations are underway," the IRNA reported quoting an official. “The municipal and port firefighters are being assisted by firefighters from the nearby Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant,” the official added.

There have been a number of explosions and fire incidents around Iranian military, nuclear and industrial facilities since late June.

According to another report carried by IRNA, a number of Iranian lawmakers are set to visit Natanz Nuclear Complex in the coming days.

The report also said quoting an official that the cause of the incident at the Natanz Nuclear Complex has been identified following the technical and security investigations and will be declared in due course for security reasons. There were no casualties in the Complex as a result of the incident and the normal process of enrichment continues, it added. — Agencies
