MUSCAT — Oman on Thursday registered 1,327 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the Sultanate to 62,574, the country’s health ministry said in a statement carried by Oman News Agency.

The ministry also announced nine more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 290.

Of the new cases, there were 1,008 Omani citizens and the remaining 319 were expatriates from different countries.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,052 more patients have recovered from the deadly disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 30,090, according to the ministry.

The ministry also pointed out that it conducted 4,704 coronavirus tests over the past 24 hours.

There are currently 549 patients who are hospitalized and receiving necessary medical treatment and 85 out of whom are in intensive care units (ICU).
