JEDDAH — A man who appeared wearing a security uniform and riding a camel on a highway was found to be psychologically ill, a police official said on Friday.

Recently, a video went viral online showing the man in the uniform riding the camel on Makkah highway.

“After an initial investigation done by security patrols, it was found out that the man, who is in his 40s, was suffering from psychological disorders,” said a spokesman for the Makkah police. “He underwent a medical test in preparation for completing disciplinary procedures,” he added.

The sight of a security man riding a camel on a highway drew a lot of attention on social media with many making satirical comments while some expressing their astonishment.

According to media reports, the man was arrested on Thursday night.
