GACA completes preparations to receive this year's pilgrims

RIYADH — The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has completed its preparations to receive pilgrims flights arriving from inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform 1441 Hajj rituals.

This was unveiled amid the integration of services as of today (Friday) through terminal (1) at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

A system of integrated services has been set to facilitate procedures and the application of preventive guidance to ensure the safety of travelers and airport visitors alike and includes the application of codified standards.

It starts from the flight’s departure at any given airport until the arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and the entry of pilgrims to arrival terminals, where they are received by employees of the Ministry of Health and GACA.

Upon arrival, they will be given a set of instructions and obtain the necessary health services. Furthermore, the precautionary measures for the prevention of the novel coronavirus will be applied.

This will be done according to the precautionary instructions for all domestic pilgrims of different nationalities within the Kingdom. Moreover, the available of smart applications are to be used such as “Tawaklna”, “Tabad” and “Tatman”.

This is in addition to electronic bracelets for pilgrims and in accordance to the health care protocols for the prevention of (COVID-19) for the Hajj Season 1441.

GACA has implemented all precautionary and health measures for the pilgrims at the airports. The procedures applied by GACA include a set of precautionary measures that the traveler goes through to perform the Hajj rituals at the founder’s airport, and in accordance to the passenger’s guide.

Furthermore, GACA also provides sterilizers stations throughout the airport. It also continuously measures the passenger’s temperature, disinfects the airport every 3 hours, and disinfects all aircrafts used after each flight.

GACA has taken many precautions when the pilgrims arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and these measures include applying social distancing inside the aircraft and a commitment to a gradual disembarkation of passengers from the aircraft.

Moreover, the use of only 50% of the operating capacity of the passenger’s bridge, and the requirements for all to wear face masks was implemented.

Furthermore, the provision of sterilization devices at the first entry point to the airport terminal and throughout the airport, obligating travelers to sterilize through available devices, and providing areas for sanitary isolation.

This is in addition to keeping a social distancing of 2 meters by standing on the guidance decals placed on the terminal floor, which shows passengers where to stand in all places, including the waiting area, airport lounge, and in the baggage claim area.

Everyone is obligated to stand on the guidance decals in the waiting area and in the gathering areas. Moreover, luggage trolleys are disinfected continuously after each use.

Furthermore, the national air carriers will also apply precautionary measures to passengers inside the aircrafts and in the airport lounges. — SPA
