Coronavirus cases continue to drop as Saudi Arabia reports 1,258 new infections

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Monday recorded 1,258 new coronavirus cases, marking the lowest single-day total in three months, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

There has been a consistent drop in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom despite Eid festivities as authorities are making all efforts to stem the spread of the deadly disease.

With the detection of the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom has reached 280,093,

The ministry announced 32 more coronavirus-related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities in the Kingdom to 2,949.

The ministry also announced that 1,972 more patients have completely recovered from coronavirus, raising the total number of recoveries to 242,053.

Of the new cases, 89 were recorded in the capital Riyadh, 75 in Hufof, 72 in Jeddah and 65 in Damman, 54 in Makkah, 51 in Madinah and 50 in Jeddah.

There was not even single case of coronavirus reported in the holy sites as the Hajj came to a close.
