Saudi nurse recovers after getting infected by reckless patient

Muhammad Al-Qarni, a Saudi nurse at King Salman Hospital here, returned to work with much enthusiasm and spirit of serving patients after having recovered from coronavirus infection. He swung into action in the same health quarantine section where from he had infected the virus due to misconduct of a patient.

Al-Qarni said that the virus was transmitted to him by one of the patients. “I asked him not to leave his bed under any circumstances and that if he wanted to go to bathroom, I would assist him to do so, but he violated the instruction and went alone and fell down. While helping him get up, my protective shield slit open and thus I became vulnerable to infection,” Al-Qarni said adding that even then he assisted to carry him to his bed safely.

Al-Qarni said that he felt symptoms of coronavirus two days later and tested positive. He was hospitalized for seven days. After his recovery, Al-Qarni is now back at work.
