MUSCAT — Oman’s Ministry of Health on Friday released an updated tally of new coronavirus infections, recoveries, recoveries, and deaths due to complications caused by the infection.

According to the tally, 212 new cases and six more deaths were reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections and fatalities in the Sultanate to 82,743 and 557 respectively so far.

The total number of recovered patients in the country has reached 77,427, accounting for 93.6 percent of the total cases, the ministry said in a statement carried by the Omani News Agency.

A total of 153 patients are receiving treatment in intensive care units, the ministry added.

Over the last few days, the number of new cases has dropped significantly in the Sultanate.

Oman has recently lifted a ban on the movement between its governorates and has reduced nighttime curfew hours.
