MANAMA — The Bahrain health ministry on Saturday reported 357 new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus, along with 390 recoveries.
Of the new cases, 115 were among expatriate workers, 232 were contacts of active cases, and 10 were travel related.
One new death was reported, taking the death toll to 189.
As many as 9,651 COVID-19 tests were carried out on Aug. 28, the ministry said, taking the total number of recoveries to 47,760.
There are currently 30 COVID-19 cases in a critical condition, and 65 cases receiving treatment. 3,134 cases are stable out of a total of 3,164 active cases.
On Friday, Bahrain reopened all mosques across the island nation for Fajr prayers after months of closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Videos posted by Bahraini citizens and residents showed several mosques holding the Fajr morning prayers while following strict guidelines like social distancing and ensuring worshipers bring their own prayers rugs. — Agencies
