Nominations open for prestigious King Faisal Prize

RIYADH — The nomination process for the 44th edition of King Faisal International Prize (KFP) 2022 has opened, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday quoting a statement from the KFP secretariat general.

The prestigious prize honors exceptional achievements in five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, medicine and science.

Making the announcement, Secretary-General of the KFP Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sabeel said nominations are open and will continue until March 2021.


The topic for the Islamic studies prize is “Andalusian Islamic Heritage, for Arabic language and literature the subject is “Arabic literature studies written in English,” for medicine prize “genes’ modification techniques” and the science prize will be given for mathematics.

The Service to Islam prize, which is an appreciation award, will be accorded to someone who has played a pioneering role in serving Islam and Muslims intellectually and practically through various works, activities, programs and projects, making a positive impact on the community.

The right to nominate is limited to bodies such as institutions, scientific centers (think tanks) and universities.
