RIYADH — The Special Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced on Wednesday seven terrorists to death over a 2014 shooting attack in the Al-Dalwah village in the eastern city of Al-Ahsa.

In November 2014, three suspected militants opened fire on dozens of people in the village, killing eight persons there. Seven defendants were sentenced to death after their conviction while three others were handed 25-year jail terms each.

The court pronounced the verdict in the presence of 10 defendants while two defendants were not present. The court awarded death penalties, including execution and crucifixion, to the first four defendants and the death penalty for defendants No. 6, 7 and 12. The defendants No. 8, 10 and 11 were sentenced to 25-year jail terms, starting from the date of their detention.

The court also ruled to confiscate weapons, ammunition and bullets seized from the defendants in accordance with Article 50 of the Weapons and Ammunition Law, as well as the sums of money seized from them in accordance with Article 16 of the Anti-Money Laundering Law. The vehicles and electronic devices seized from the defendants except the mobile device seized from defendant 11 were also confiscated.
