KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Friday recorded 865 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 88,243, according to a statement from the health ministry carried by Kuwait News Agency.

The ministry announced one more death from complications caused by COVID-19, raising the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 537.

According to the health ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there were currently 8,289 active cases of which 94 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

The spokesman also said that a total of 4,378 additional coronavirus tests were done over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of COVID-19 examinations conducted in the country to 636,220 so far.

Earlier in the day, the ministry also said that 626 more patients recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking to the total number of recoveries from the deadly disease in Kuwait to 79,417.

Recently, Kuwait has eased coronavirus-related restrictions.
