RIYADH —
The General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), in coordination with the Saudi Customs, has foiled criminal plans to smuggle over 16 million amphetamine pills into the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), Capt. Muhammad Bin Khaled Al-Nujaidi, as stating on Friday.

The recipients of the shipment, two expatriate men, of Indian and Yemeni nationality, were arrested and legal measures have been taken against them.

The smugglers managed to pass through several neighboring countries with the large drug consignment undetected. However, strict measures thwarted the drugs’ entry into the Kingdom.

The total quantity amounting to 16,343,000 amphetamine pills were seized after finding them hidden in a consignment of chickpeas.
