RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Saturday reported 791 new COVID-19 cases, along with 779 recoveries. There were 822 new cases in the Kingdom on Friday.

Thirty-four deaths were also recorded during the past 24 hours, the health ministry said.

This takes the total reported cases in the country to 319,932, and recoveries to 295,842. The death tally has now climbed to 4,049, health ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying.

There was an abrupt increase in the number of cases in Jeddah which on Saturday recorded 65 new infections as against 48 detected on Friday. It was followed by 64 cases in Madinah, 46 in Dammam, 44 in Hufof, 38 in Riyadh, 31 each in Al-Mobarraz and Makkah, 27 in Qatif, 24 in Yanbu, and 20 in Jubail.

The rest of the cases were scattered in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said.

Saudi Arabia recorded its highest daily on increase on June 19 when 4,301 cases were confirmed over a 24-hour period. New infections since then decreased reaching below 1,000 for the first in four months.
