MANAMA — Bahrain’s National Assembly — the Shura and Representatives Councils — hailed establishing diplomatic relations between the Bahrain and Israel in a historical step that will contribute to promoting peace and stability in the region. They described the step as a continuation of the kingdom’s efforts to boost security, stability, and peace all over the world.

The National Assembly underscored the importance of intensifying efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and achieve just and comprehensive peace according to the two-state solution and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, the Bahrain News Agency reported.

The Shura and Representatives Councils affirmed that the step is in the interest of the region’s security, stability, and prosperity and is in line with Bahrain’s inherent approach and glorious history of promoting openness and co-existence with all and fostering social cohesion.

Both councils underlined support for the historic step toward achieving peace in the Middle East and establishing dialogue and direct relations between the two dynamic societies and advanced economies that will continue the positive transformation of the Middle East and increase stability, security, and prosperity in the region.

The National Assembly commended the leading role of the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in announcing the establishment of full diplomatic relations with Israel on Aug. 13, 2020. It expressed support to the kingdom’s acceptance of an invitation by the US president to attend the signing ceremony of an agreement between the UAE and Israel on Sept. 15 at the White House during which Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs will sign the Declaration of Peace.
