RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has disclosed that it granted last month 71 new licenses to firms having a combined total of SR1.6 billion capital and employing 2,991 regular workers.
In its monthly announcement on the most important industrial indicators for August 2020, the ministry said that the total number of existing and under construction industrial facilities reached 9,350, compared to 9,280 at the end of the month of July.
The ministry said that the number of Saudi workers reached 542, while the number of expatriate workers was 565 during the period.
The ministry added that it granted 12 new licenses during the past month to firms producing food products, three licenses for the beverage industry, another for the manufacture of vehicles with engines for trailers and semi-trailers, five licenses for manufacturing formed metal products, and eight licenses for the manufacturing base metals, and nonmetallic minerals.
The ministry further said that six licenses were granted for the manufacturing rubber and plastics products, and nine licenses for other manufacturing industries, among others.
