KHARTOUM — A senior Sudanese humanitarian official has praised Saudi Arabia’s support for victims of the recent deadly floods in the country.

Director General of Sudan’s National Medical Supplies Fund Afaf Al-Nahas said that the Kingdom’s medical supplies were crucial for the humanitarian response and would also aid the ministry of health’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Al-Nahas also praised the Kingdom’s continuous support for the Sudanese people and expressed her gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his initiatives to help countries around the world.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) had at the start of September delivered hundreds of boxes of aid to people in Khartoum, including 105 ton of medical supplies and equipment.

“Some 6,000 people benefited from the food assistance, which is part of a larger project to help flood victims throughout the country,” KSrelief has said.

At least 85,000 people have been internally displaced by the floods, and more than half a million others have been affected, according to authorities. — Agencies
