Saudi Arabia reports 576 new COVID-19 cases as new infections drop drastically

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Friday confirmed the detection of 576 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, marking the Kingdom’s lowest daily reported infections in several months, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 328,720.

Meanwhile, 31 more people died due to complications caused by COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities Kingdom to 4,430.

The ministry announced the recovery of 1,145 patients, raising the total number of recoveries 308,352, with the recovery rate rising to more than 93 percent.

Makkah reported the highest daily detected cases on Friday with 58 new infections, followed by Jeddah with 52 cases, Hafouf with 47, Dammam with 37, Riyadh with 35 and Madinah with 33. The remaining cases were reported in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

Active cases have continued to fall drastically with 15,938 cases, out of which 1,189 are critical.
