KACST, Ministry of Industry to set up advanced manufacturing and production center

RIYADH — King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish advanced manufacturing and production center to enhance cooperation in the fields of operational excellence, 4th industrial revolution and knowledge and industrial innovation.

The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Eng. Osama Bin Abdulaziz Al-Zamil and President of KACST Dr. Anas Bin Faris Al-Faris.

The center will focus on industry as a strategic choice, as well as operational excellence and industrial innovation to enhance the capacity and performance of Saudi factories, which will increase Saudi Arabia’s exports within the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

It will also focus on developing skills of Saudi youth on advanced manufacturing and production technologies.

The cooperation will include conducting joint survey projects to identify the impact of the applications of operational excellence and the fourth industry on the industrial sectors, in addition to exchanging experiences and information between KACST and the ministry.

It will also include supporting and implementing research projects to serve the industrial sector, as well as working on the transfer of technology and marketing the outputs of research, development and innovation. — SPA
