Saudi leaders congratulate Germany’s president on German Unity Day

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, have sent cables of congratulations to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the anniversary of German Unity Day, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.

In their congratulatory messages, King Salman and the Crown Prince wished the German president
constant good health and happiness, and the government and people of Germany steady progress and prosperity.

The German Unity Day is the National Day of Germany, celebrated on Oct. 3 as a public holiday. It commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990 when the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) were unified, so that for the first time since 1945 there existed a single German state.
