October 04, 2020

RIYADH — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), has joined the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (ICMRA), in a step to strengthen the Kingdom's position at the international level and be a leader in all fields in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Through this Coalition, the SFDA will be able to develop the regulatory aspect, meet and communicate with heads of drug regulatory authorities around the world, exchange knowledge and information, transfer experiences, share data on medicines, pill and vaccines, and develop some standards that support medicine regulatory work at the authority to ensure medicines' availability, safety and effectiveness.

It will also allow the Authority to be familiar with the best practices related to the safety, efficacy and quality of medicines and cases of unavailability, knowing all developments and cases that occur in the medicine system in the world, contributing to facing challenges and crises that may occur on the safety and effectiveness of medicines through fast and easy communication with the authorities related to the medicine, in addition to access to medicines regulatory developments and requirements. — SPA
