WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump on Wednesday returned to his office in the White House after his doctor Sean Conley reported that he was showing no COVID-19 symptoms.

The doctor also said the president had not needed any supplemental oxygen since going to hospital on Friday.

“Of note today, the President’s labs demonstrated detectable levels of SARS-CoV-2-IgG antibodies from labs drawn Monday,” the doctor added.

Trump, who has been convalescing in the residence area of the White House since Monday, went to the Oval Office to be briefed about economic stimulus talks and Hurricane Delta, a White House official said.

The official said he entered the office from the Rose Garden to avoid walking through the White House hallways and possibly exposing others to the coronavirus.

Chief of staff Mark Meadows conducted the briefing and wore personal protective gear, according to the official.

“Was just briefed on Hurricane Delta, and spoke with @GovAbbott of Texas and @LouisianaGov John Bel Edwards,” Trump wrote in a tweet shortly after.

Later in the afternoon, Trump’s account posted a nearly five-minute video of the president speaking from outside the Oval Office about his health and his administration’s response to the pandemic.

He said he had “pushed” the Food and Drug Administration to make virus-related approvals, and suggested that a vaccine would not come before the election due to “politics.”

“I think we should have it before the election, but frankly the politics gets involved, and that’s OK, they want to play their games, it’s going to be right after the election,” Trump said.
