Single-day death toll drops to 19 as Saudi Arabia sees 474 COVID-19 cases

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Tuesday registered 474 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 340,089, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry, 19 more died over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 5,087.

The ministry also reported 500 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 326,339 with the recovery rate rising to 95.95 percent.

Of the new cases, Makkah recorded the highest number of cases with 59 infections followed by Madinah with 58, Yanbu with 37, Hafouf and Riyadh with 29 cases each.

The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

Active cases have dropped significantly with 8,663 reported on Tuesday, out of which 839 are critical.
