RIYADH — The Arab Coalition spokesman Col. Turki Al-Maliki stated that the Coalition forces were on target in intercepting and destroying on three separate occasions on Sunday explosive-laden drones in Yemeni airspace that were launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting civilians in Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Col. Al-Maliki said in a statement of the latest attempt on Sunday evening that "the Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this evening (Sunday) a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region."

The second explosive-laden drone too was destroyed in Yemeni airspace. Col. Al-Maliki said, adding, that the drone was destroyed on Sunday afternoon in Yemeni airspace.

“Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this afternoon (Sunday), in Yemeni airspace, a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom,” Al-Maliki said in a statement.

Earlier, on Sunday morning the Coalition forces intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia.

In the day’s first statement, Al-Maliki said: “Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this morning (Sunday) a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region.”

This destruction of the drone early Sunday came after the Coalition on Saturday evening had intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone launched by the Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia.

Saturday’s interception of the Houthi launched drone was the third in two days as the Coalition forces had on Friday intercepted and destroyed two explosive-laden drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

The failed attacks are the latest in the series of armed drones launched by the Houthis in recent weeks. — SPA
