JEDDAH – Samsung Electronics Ltd., a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, set another record, for demonstrating once again its leadership in the Full HD TV market when it launched Monday in Saudi Arabia the first Curved Full HD OLED TV at an event held at the Park Hyatt Hotel Jeddah.

The 55-inch Curved OLED TV delivers an unrivaled combination between the self-lighten OLED pixels and the great details on the curved shape to provide a more immersive experience and an enhanced sense of presence.

Samsung said that the curved frame and TV was inspired by the concept it calls “Timeless Arena.” One of the big features that allows this OLED television to deliver such high image quality is the fact that when each individual pixel isn’t needed it is completely black delivering very high contrast ratios. Samsung didn’t mention the exact contrast ratio for the screen, but it should be impressive.

The television also promises to deliver true-life colors thanks to the OLED panels ability to reproduce colors with levels of clarity traditional TVs can’t match. The reason for the curved screen is that it provides a picture with greater presence and depth than a flat screen can deliver. Samsung designed the TV so that the screen appears to float above its metal frame.

Samsung further said the design provides a “sense of strength and softness at the same time.” The television also features the Samsung Smart Hub with S Recommendation allowing for social networking and viewing recommendations. One of the most interesting features of the TV is the Multi-View capability. The capability means that two people in the same room can watch two different programs at the same time on the same screen using Multi-View glasses and earbuds to provide stereo sound.

The TV panel’s high refresh rate makes it possible for you to enjoy different programs simultaneously. Samsung also notes that viewers can watch any combination of 2-D and 3-D content at the same time.

Samsung Electronics KSA General Manager Jae Cheon Park said “Samsung has been able to keep its number one position for the 7th year in a row in the worldwide TV market because it presents innovative concepts year on year.

Realizing a Curved Full OLED TV is more difficult to produce than a Curved OLED TV due to the panel characteristics. The world’s first Curved OLED TV proved Samsung’s unbeatable position in TV technology once again. Samsung succeeded in doing so by listening to its customers to cater to their ever changing and improving lifestyle. Our new Curved OLED TV translates that truthful experience in size and in picture.”

Engineer Adnan Matbouli, CEO of United Matbouli Group, added: “We need not emphasize on our trust in Samsung as we are proud to call ourselves their partners in Saudi Arabia. Samsung is a leader in its field and has once more broken records by creating this revolutionary TV which we’re really proud of. Our partnership with Samsung is reflected through an understanding of each other’s common goals by listening to the Saudi market and catering to their ever changing and improved lifestyle.”

Samsung’s Curved OLED  provides a unique and unparalleled viewing experience thanks to its technology which gives life to every pixel known as “self-emitting diode” delivering bright and vivid colors. Each pixel illuminates itself and displays pictures with absolute blacks at a contrast ratio never seen before on conventional TVs.

The Curved OLED TV continues to discover new possibilities with its Multi-View capability.

The “Multi-View” technology enables two users to watch two different channels simultaneously thanks to the 3D technology feature whereby the Multi-View glasses that come with embedded ear buds for stereo sound allow one to separately listen and watch their favorite program on the same screen. This feature, made possible by an exceptional refresh rate, is so advanced that viewers can watch any combination of 2D and 3D content simultaneously.

Alongside Samsung’s 55-inch Curved OLED TV, Samsung also launched two new sizes of the UHD screens, 55” & 65”.

Moreover, the largest yet UHD Screen – the 110 inches UHD – will soon arrive in Saudi Arabia to complete Samsung’s UHD family with four screen sizes. — SG
