RIYADH — The Arab Coalition forces intercepted and destroyed two explosive-laden drone in Yemeni airspace that was launched on Monday, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting civilians in Saudi Arabia, cited a report in Saudi Press Agency quoting official spokesman Col. Turki Al-Maliki.

“Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this morning (Monday), in Yemeni airspace, a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region,” Col. Al-Maliki said in a statement.

Col. Al-Maliki added: “The Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed a bomb-laden UAV launched on Monday afternoon by the Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian targets in the Southern region.”

This latest Houthi-launched attacks follow three failed attempts by the Iran-backed militia on Sunday to launch UAVs toward Saudi Arabia, targeting civilians.

The Coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed, on Sunday, bomb-laden UAVs launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia on three separate occasions.

The first bid was made in the morning, with the next two drones, both destroyed in Yemeni airspace, launched in the afternoon and evening respectively.

This destruction of the drone early Sunday came after the Coalition on Saturday evening had intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone launched by the Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia.

Saturday’s interception of the Houthi launched drone was the third in two days as the Coalition forces had on Friday intercepted and destroyed two explosive-laden drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

The failed attacks are the latest in the series of armed drones launched by the Houthis in recent weeks. — SPA
