Qur’an recitation competition for children organized

JEDDAH — The Gulbarga Charitable and Welfare Trust in the Kingdom organized an online Qur’an recitation competition via Zoom for the boys aged 12 to 14. Gulbargavis from Middle East and India participated in the contest.

Mirza Azam Baig, president Gulbarga Charitable and Welfare Trust, attended the online function as Chief Guest while Syed Nasir Khursheed, president GCWT Jeddah Chapter, presided over the function.

Mohammed Zayanuddin from Jazan was awarded first place, Mohammed Omar Farooq from Chennai bagged the second place and Shah Mohammed Saud Zanjani was declared third place winner. Three consolation prizes were given to Ubayd Ur Rahman from Gulbarga, Mirza Uzair Baig from Yanbu and Mussadiq Ahmed Khan from Jubail.

Judges panel was headed by chief judge Mohammed Abul Khasim, president GCWT Jubail chapter, and included other judges — three prominent hafiz and one of the best Qaris, Hafiz Ismail Yahya Bilal. He is educated in Qirat from Umm Al Qura University, Makkah and is currently pursuing his Masters. He also holds many honors and accolades from various international competitions and appreciations from Imaams of Haramain.

The other judge was Hafiz Abdullah Usmani, first position winner in the Jeddah Qur'an competition 2018. Hafiz Usmani set a record of being the youngest Indian to get the first position which was held under the patronage of Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal Bin Majed.

The third judge was Hafiz Abdul Basith Abdul Aziz who has completed the memorization of Qur’an from Aziziyah Masjid in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has graduated with a bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies from Dar Al Hadith, Makkah Al Mukarramah.

Chief Guest Biag appreciated the social work of the GCWT in Kingdom for the Gulbarga community and praised the brilliant performance of the contestants. He, after congratulating the winners and participants, said: “It gives us great pleasure seeing that all participants, judges and jury members perform so well. The recitation by the children was fantabulous.”

He further said presidents of all the chapters and ExCom team deserves appreciation for their relentless efforts for this noble cause.

Khursheed too congratulated the winners, participants and parents of the participants, and appreciated the hard work of the children and efforts of the parents in preparing their children for the competition.

He requested the Gulbarga NRIs residing in different parts of the world to work for the benefit of needy people in Gulbarga. The three judges, in turn, advised the children to keep working hard towards hifz and at the same time try to understand the message of Qur’an.

Judges introduction was given by GCWT General Secretary of Jeddah Chapter Nisar Ahmed Nawade, Shah Mukhtar Jagirdar, vice president GCWT Riyadh Chapter, and Shahid Patel, treasurer GCWT Makkah Chapter.

Mementos were displayed online which were prepared to present judges, and chief guest as token of appreciation, digital certificates were presented to all the participants, while digital Qur’an and mementos will be delivered to the winners. During the event General Manager TeAm Infra Abdul Rahman announced Indian Rs. 50,000 for the winners.

The event was conducted by Mohammed Imdad Ali, president GCWT Riyadh chapter. The welcome speech was delivered by Zaki Tameemul Hassan, treasurer of GCWT Jeddah Chapter. The program started with the recitation of Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Ismail Yahiya Bilal Maniyar, while naate shareef was recited by Mohammed Abdul Aziz. vice president GCWT Jeddah chapter. Mohammed Abdul Ameed concluded the event with a vote of thanks .
