Kuwait sees spike in COVID-19 cases with 814 new infections

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Wednesday recorded another spike of 814 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 123,906, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by state news agency KUNA.

The ministry also announced seven more deaths due to complications caused by the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 763.

According to the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are currently 8,220 active cases in the country out of which 107 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

A total of 7,431 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 examinations in the country so far to 896,986, Dr. Al-Sanad said.

Earlier in the day, the ministry announced that a total of 807 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 114,923. — SG
