COVID-19 deaths drop to 15 as Saudi Arabia reports 426 cases

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia recorded on Wednesday 426 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number confirmed infections in the country to 348,936, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 15 more patients died over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 5,456.

The ministry also reported 441 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 335,594 with the recovery rate rising to 96.17 percent.

Of the new cases, Madinah recorded the highest with 72 followed by Riyadh 53 45, Yanbu with 36 and Makkah with 28.

The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, active cases have been falling steadily with 7,871 reported on Wednesday, out of which 736 are critical, the statement added.
