LONDON — More than 50.7 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,260,290 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany has increased by 15,332 to 687,200, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Tuesday. The reported death toll rose by 154 to 11,506.
Russia reported 20,977 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, including 5,902 in the capital Moscow, bringing the national tally to 1,817,109. Authorities also reported 368 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the official death toll to 31,161. Moreover, 15,600 people recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours, pushing the total to 1,350,741 cured cases.
Ukraine registered 10,179 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, its Health Ministry said on Tuesday. The minister Maksym Stepanov said a total of 479,197 cases had been registered in Ukraine as of Nov. 10, with 8,756 deaths.
The Czech Republic reported 6,048 new coronavirus cases for Nov. 9, a drop of more 3,000 from a week earlier, Health Ministry data showed on Tuesday. In total, the country of 10.7 million has recorded 420,875 cases after showing one of Europe's highest infection rates for several weeks.
The ministry also reported 216 new deaths, including 95 on Monday as well as revisions to previous days. Overall, 5,074 people have died in relation to COVID-19.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
In Brussels, total infections of coronavirus cases in Belgium reached to 503,182 with 2,393 new infections reported by health authorities. They said 161 more deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours raising the total death toll to 13,216.
Meanwhile, India has registered less than 40,000 daily new cases after six days. The number of daily new cases in the last 24 hours is 38,073. For the third day in a row, daily new cases have been sustained below the 50,000 mark.
There has been a sustained decrease in the number of active cases over the past few weeks. For the 38th day today, recoveries have exceeded the daily new cases with 42,033 cases recovering in the last 24 hours.
Recovery Rate further increased to 92.64%. Total recoveries as of Tuesday is 79,59,406. The gap between recovered cases and active cases has widened to 74,54,141. Fatalities have continued to decrease with less than 500 deaths reported for the second day with 448 case fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.
In Tokyo, Japan reported 953 new cases of the coronavirus over the last 24 hours, raising the total to 110,019, the Health Ministry and local authorities said. The country’s cumulative death toll rose by 13 to 1,841. Tokyo added 293 new infections, marking its second-highest daily tally since January, which brought the total cases in the Japanese capital to 33,060.
In Lomé, Togo reported Tuesday 33 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus. In a statement issued, the Togolese Ministry of Health said that the total number of cases infected with the virus reached 2,516, while the total deaths reached 57. — Agencies
