778 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths, 749 recoveries reported in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait recorded on Wednesday 778 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 132,478, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by state news agency KUNA.

The ministry also announced five more deaths due to complications caused by the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 826.

According to the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are currently 8,428 active cases in the country out of which 108 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

A total of 6,808 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of COVID-19 examinations in the country so far to 986,144, Dr. Al-Sanad said.

Earlier in the day, the ministry announced that a total of 749 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries in the country to 124,905. — SG
