WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump said Friday his administration will work to secure an Emergency Use Authorization, which should be coming down extremely soon and my administration will then coordinate the distribution of the vaccine “Pfizer”.

“The vaccine will be approved I think, again, it will be approved very, very quickly, we hope,” he told a press conference at the White House.

“The vaccine will be distributed to frontline workers, the elderly, and the high risk American immediately.

“As soon as April, the vaccine will be available to the entire general population with the exception of places like New York State where, for political reasons — until we have authorization to do so,” Trump said.

“We expect to issue Emergency Use Authorizations for a number of additional treatment in the near future.

“This administration will not be going to a lockdown. Hopefully the — the whatever happens in the future, who knows which administration it will be, I guess time will tell, but I can tell you this administration will not go to a lockdown,” Trump added.

On his part, Moncef Slaoui, key adviser to Operation Wrap Speed, said: “The two vaccines that are completing their phase three trials are likely to be filing their files with the FDA for a potential Emergency Use Authorization within the next few weeks.”

“And hopefully if approved they could be used for immunization in the US population in the month of December,” he added.

The operation is Trump administration’s multibillion-dollar push to develop and manufacture hundreds if millions of doses of coronavirus vaccine,

Meanwhile, President-Elect Joe Biden said: “The crisis does not respect dates on the calendar, it is accelerating right now.”

“Urgent action is needed today, now, by the current administration — starting with an acknowledgement of how serious the current situation is,” Biden said in a statement.

“Today I renew my call to every American, regardless of where they live or who they voted for, to step up and do their part in social distancing, hand washing, and mask wearing to protect themselves and to protect others,” he added. — KUNA
