EU top official calls King Salman, lauds Saudi Arabia’s fight against extremism

NEOM — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman received here on Monday a telephone call from President of the European Council Charles Michel.

Michel congratulated King Salman on the distinct success of the G20 Summit under the Saudi presidency. He expressed appreciation of the Kingdom for its fight against extremism and terrorism. Michel also expressed the council’s willingness to consolidate cooperation with Saudi Arabia in this regard due to the Kingdom’s leading role in the Islamic world.

For his part, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques hailed the relations between Saudi Arabia and the European Union member states. He reaffirmed the keenness to cement them in the best ways to realize the interest of the Kingdom as well as of the EU member states and the world security and peace.

King Salman also pointed out that the Kingdom is usually ahead in taking initiatives aiming at fighting extremist thoughts and terrorism, on one hand, and promoting tolerance, co-existence among people, dialogue among followers of different faith, on the other, while carrying out its responsibilities toward the Islamic world and Muslims all over the world.
