Kingdom to be among first countries to receive coronavirus vaccine, ministers note

NEOM — Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet said on Tuesday that terrorist acts of Iran-backed Houthi militia, which are committed against vital installations, do not only target the Kingdom's capabilities but the backbone of the global economy and the security of its supplies.

In a virtual session chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, The Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom's strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued Houthi attacks, including the targeting of a fuel tank at the petroleum products distribution terminal north of Jeddah, on Monday.

The Cabinet also stressed the importance of facing up to “such sabotage and terrorist acts and the parties behind them.”

The Cabinet also reviewed the efforts taken to make the Kingdom among the first countries that will receive the vaccine after making sure of its effectiveness and safety in light of global progress in vaccine development.

At the outset of the session, King Salman thanked heads of state as well as the leaders of international organizations for their effective participation in the 15th session of the G20 Leaders' Summit, which was virtually held under the Saudi presidency.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques highlighted the Kingdom’s regional and international status and its key role in the G20 to achieve more international cooperation and find collective solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges in the 21st century.

The Cabinet lauded the contents of King Salman’s speech during the G20 Leaders' Summit.

The Cabinet praised the deep-rooted humanitarian messages, inclusive visions, and solutions for a world that enjoys full health and prosperity as well as a better future for all. The King's speech also contained great confidence in the outcome of the joint efforts and international cooperation including the important and firm impacts, and policy-making at the economic and social levels.

The Cabinet also expressed appreciation for the speech delivered by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman after the conclusion of the G20 Summit. The speech affirmed the dedication of the Kingdom’s presidency, its efforts to build a stronger, more robust, and sustainable world, in parallel with the significant transformation economically and socially in the Kingdom, in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the telephone calls with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and President of the European Council Charles Michel.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Acting Minister of Media Majid Al-Qasabi pointed out that the Cabinet was also briefed on reports and developments on local and international levels.

He indicated the Kingdom's keenness on expanding and consolidating the prospects of bilateral cooperation with Iraq to serve the common interests and reciprocal benefits for the two fraternal countries and peoples in various fields.

The Cabinet stressed the Kingdom's support of the UN endeavors to stop the tragedy in Syria, help its sisterly people to realize their hopes, ambitions, and legitimate aspirations. The Cabinet stressed the importance of fighting all terrorist organizations in all of its forms.

The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's call on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to continue exposing Iran's non-peaceful nuclear activities, to intensify inspection tasks inside Iran to expose any site that may possibly be utilized to launch undeclared nuclear activities, in the light of the IAEA Director General report.

The report has monitored an increase in the quantity of enriched uranium in Iran that is over the permitted constraints in the accord, which is considered as a continuation of previously recorded Iranian escalation and transgressions in the past reports.

Al-Qasabi stated that the Cabinet expressed the Kingdom's strong condemnation and denunciation of a terrorist attack that targeted residential neighborhoods, in the Afghan capital of Kabul, resulting in deaths and casualties. He reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for Afghanistan in its efforts to combat violence, terrorism, and extremism.
