RIYADH — A Saudi mother and son obtained degree from a prestigious American university in the same specialization of psychology.
Reema Al-Howaish and her son Abdul Rahman pursed their higher studies under the Kingdom’s Foreign Scholarship Program. Both of them were conferred their certificates in the same specialization on the same day.
In the Al-Raasd program of Al-Ekhbaria Television, Reema said that her son was chosen for scholarship program to study medicine while she obtained foreign scholarship for higher studies in psychology.
“After completion of the preparatory phase of medicine, Abdul Rahman felt he was not comfortable with continuation of the course in medicine and hence he switched to psychology, the subject that I had already chosen for my higher studies,” she said.
Abdul Rahman said it was his mother who remained a stellar pillar when he faced difficulties in pursuing his higher studies and continued to motivate him to continue studies and that prompted him to switch to her favorite subject of psychology. “I am more gratified with the graduation of my mother than that of mine,” he said.
Reema has also completed her doctorate degree in Neurofeedback treatment, which is a method that assists to control brain waves consciously. She has become the first Saudi woman who obtains doctorate in this specialization.
