TURAIF — The Criminal Court in Turaif in the Northern Borders Region ruled that a Saudi citizen, who was convicted of car theft, to harvest olive trees as an alternative punishment with regard to the public right.
Sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the court said in its ruling that the convict should pick olives from 20 trees planted along public streets and this shall be under the supervision of the municipality of Turaif governorate, and in the presence of representatives from the police and the Ministry of Agriculture within a month from the date of issuance of the judgment.
The convict shall be jailed six days for each tree in the event of his failure to harvest the trees.
