RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) reiterated that all products that are available in the Saudi market are free from pork fat. The regulatory authority rejected rumors about the presence of pork derivatives in the market, emphasizing that one of the conditions for any product to enter the Saudi market is that it must be free from pork derivatives.

In a statement, the SFDA said that it has consistently stressed the safety and security of food, nutritional supplements, and vitamins that are brought in and circulated in the Saudi market as part of its regulatory role in enhancing consumer confidence and protecting society through effective legislation and control system.

In the past, SFDA had consistently interacted with the responses and inquiries of consumers, especially those related to food products as well as their components and elements involved in their manufacture. It also responded specifically with rumors related to some of the products such as gelatin in vitamins pills/tablets, especially those that come in the form of gel or any product that contains the symbol E, with giving clear directives that it should be avoided because of pork fat ingredient.

The SFDA announced that it does not allow the entry of products that contain pig derivatives and that all products and lotions registered and marketed in Saudi Arabia are free from pork derivatives.

The authority called on all to report to it in the event of any violation through the tameni mobile application or by contacting the uniform call center 19999.
