MAKKAH — Mazen Derar, the head of the national committee for Hajj, Umrah and visit activities, said that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has directed the companies and establishments providing Umrah services take complete care of foreign Umrah pilgrims who are unable to return to their respective countries following the Kingdom’s temporary closure of all its borders.

Derar said that there are 300 Umrah pilgrims staying currently in Makkah while the arrival of new pilgrims who are supposed to come this week will be coordinated after the suspension of travel to the Kingdom is lifted.

The Umrah service providers have been instructed to make available all the facilities and services for their stay in Makkah until they can reschedule their trips to their countries following the resumption of the flight services, Al-Yaum newspaper reported.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has stopped receiving pilgrims until further notice, and entry to the Kingdom through the land, sea, and airports has been temporarily suspended since last Sunday for a week, which can be extended, over reports about an outbreak of the mutated strain of coronavirus in Britain.
