December 25, 2020

MUSCAT — The first consignment of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine arrived at the Muscat International Airport on Thursday evening, Bahrain News Agency reported.

The consignment includes 15,600 doses of the vaccine, as the second consignment of 28,000 doses is scheduled to arrive by early January 2021.

The Sultanate will officially commence the vaccination campaign on Sunday. Oman's health ministry has set a vaccination strategy to cover 60 percent of the population divided into several stages. The first phase will cover 20 percent of the target rate due to the limited supply in the current period. — SG
